Viva L'Italia - The Capital Rome, Roma

If you remember, Rome was our first destination in Italy. But we only stayed shortly at the airport before we flied to Venice. After 8 days wandering around Italy, finally we went back to the capital of the country.

Roma.

Oh, we visited Pompei earlier in the day we went to Rome. It was too hot to visit the ancient city.
Defeated by the heat in Pompei
The first thing to do was to return the rental car. Goodbye, little Ford Galaxy. I guessed my aunt was totally relived because she didn't have to drive anymore in Italy.

The second thing to do was to find our apartment in Rome. Piece of cake. We have pick-up service, so we could simply wait in the Termini railway station which was super busy and crowded until a guy holding a card the had my name written on it came to us. Time to see our new home.

You know what? We looooooooooooved our apartment in Rome. It was perfect. Four spacious rooms (at least bigger than mine in Taiwan), well-equipped kitchen, washing machine and tumbler, TV, a desktop with WiFi internet connection, wonderful location - right opposite to the Castel Sant'Angelo. The only drawback was that the bathrooms were relatively small and the hot water system was unstable. However, there were three bathrooms in the apartment so the drawback could be ignored. The landlord and the representative of the agency was waiting for us in the apartment. After paying the money, everything in the apartment was ours, yeah......even merely four days.

We cooked for ourselves several meals at the apartment.
About Rome:
1. I bought my first luxury handbag in the Prada store near Piazza di Spagna. (you can find a great number of Rome-based Italian fashion retailers there)
It's a dark blue one. Love it, and much cheaper in Italy than in Taiwan, though still expensive.
2. It was really hot in Rome in July. I couldn't find a proper time to go jogging so I only did it once.

3. The Trevi Fountain, we went there twice, the first time was at night, and the second time was at noon. Both times there were hundreds of people visiting the fountain. And, of course, to ensure a return to Rome, I threw a coin into the fountain.

4. I met my e-friend Stefano, a local Italian, in a famous pizzeria named "  ". He showed me the streets of Trastereve, and we had a short walk along the Tiber River. It was amazing to meet an e-friend far away in real.

5. We dined at two Chinese restaurant in Rome because we really missed Chinese food a lot. Although the Chinese dishes in Rome were not really good comparing to those in Taiwan, we still ate them happily. And it was interesting that we didn't have to speak Italian or English at the restaurants. The staffs all speak Chinese.
We also went to a bubble tea vendor shop because Taiwan is the origin of bubble tea. In fact, I don't drink bubble tea often in Taiwan for it contains high calories.
We love rice.

6. As a huge fan of MUJI, of course I went to the MUJI retail store in Rome. I bought a watch there.

7. At the last day of our stay in Rome, we went to a restaurant named "Il Pagliaccio", which owns a tow-Michelin star rating. We chose the 8 courses set which cost 120 euro per person. Its aperitifs and sides were excellent, but the main dish was not that good because we didn't like lamb. The service was great, the ambiance was superb, and it was in Rome, priceless experience.

I won't say I fell in love with Rome, but I did feel that there is much to discover in the city. And I have left a little secret there, like I did in San Francisco and Hong Kong. I threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain, so I will go back to Rome again.
