I watched the movie "The Borrower Arrietty (Kari-gurashi no Arietti )" by the Studio Ghibli this afternoon.
The movie is based on British writer Mary Norton's fantasy novel " The Borrowers." Studio Ghibli adapted the story with its sophisticated animated film skills, which led it to win the award for Animation of the Year at the 34th Japan Academy Prize. In Taiwan, many people are fans of movies of Studio Ghibli. I'm no exception . Even though I think there were no many surprises in the plot of this movie, it did awaken me to a unique exotic sense I acquired while reading children's literature books such as "Heidi, Girl of the Alps," "The Secret Garden" in my childhood. The reading experiences probably play a significant role in my dream to live abroad. In fact, I imaged that I own a house with a beautiful garden in the UK countryside as I watched the movie. A good movie can take people away from reality, so for me, "The Borrower Arriety" is Studio Ghibli's another masterpiece.
The movie showed a dollhouse which I have been addicted to long time ago. I even bought some books about how to make your own dollhouse. However, after figuring out that I don't have any talent in that, I gave up trying to create a dollhouse of my own. I'll maintain being a visitor of the Miniatures Museum of Taiwan. Those books about dollhouse still sleep in the depths of my bookshelf now. Who knows? Maybe I am able to make (or buy) a amazing dollhouse in the future. That's one of my reveries.
Luckily, the typhoon passing by Taiwan this weekend didn't cause serious damage. The rain stopped in the morning, and the temperature began to raise again. It's a usual scene of summertime in Taiwan. I am glad to have a peaceful holiday today.
