My friend said that
La Famille has the best French dessert in Taiwan. Despite knowing the shop for a long time, today was my first time to go there. Three of my cousins accompanied me. I was grateful to them, because it is tough for a nerd like me to be in a dessert store alone (but I paid the bill). The operator of the shop is a lady named Cristelle. She studied the pastry course at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, the world-famous culinary arts school. After graduating, she came back to Taiwan and began to have her own dessert shop in her hometown Douliou (斗六). The shop has become a great hit since then, following two more shops opened in a Taichung.

The shop we visited is a branch located in the Chungyo Department Store (中友百貨). Since it was Sunday, the department store was undoubtedly crowded. I bought a polo shirt at the MUJI before the afternoon tea. The dessert shop is located on the fancy floor, surrounded by many high fashion boutiques. We didn't walk into the boutiques. Instead, we entered the dessert shop directly:). As the routine of the shop, we ordered the beverage on the menu and then chose our favorite dessert in front of the showcase. My set was hot chocolate with fruit flavor and lemon tart. My cousins all chose soda water topped with ice cream or sorbet as their beverage. The lemon tart tasted good. In fact I am not a fan of tarts. I am more into mousse. So a good tart for me is actually a marvelous one I guess. The long and the short of it, we had fun and enjoyed a leisurely Sunday afternoon.
