My First Experience Working in a Clinic

One of my hospital seniors operates a clinic in Guoshing Township (國姓鄉). It is located in central Taiwan, the mountain area close to the famous Sun Moon Lake(日月潭). A month ago, he asked me if I can work on his behalf for 1 day because he has to attend his school reunion. I promised it immediately since I need to save money for my future study in the Europe (or the US). And it's a perfect opportunity to know what my future job will be like. I stayed in my grandfather's place in Keli (喀哩) last night, closer to Guoshing Township. I am not a good driver, but I don't want to be late. Thus, I woke up early (6:20 in the morning) to set out. Fortunately, I didn't have any trouble on the highway, and I didn't get lost. It took me approximately 30 minutes to the clinic. Most important, I didn't spend too much time parking, which is always my weakness.

Guoshing Township is a small town in Nantou County (南投縣) and is famous for its beautiful scenery and plum. However, I was not there for a visit. I stayed in the clinic most of them time. The workload was reasonable. I could surf the Internet during the intervals between patients. In fact, I wrote this post right in the clinic. I had my lunch on the street (fried beef noodles and tofu soup) and bought a lottery ticket. Then I went back to the clinic to take a nap. The following afternoon and evening were all about working. Thanks to the training in the surgical emergency department, I successfully sutured a cut wound on a woman's left palm without much difficulty. My senior's daughter kept coming to the consulting room to ask me to play with her. It ended up with my IPad taken away by her, though she called for help sometimes when she had trouble playing games.

After the clinic closed, I drove back to my grandfather's place where my aunt and cousins were also there. We enjoyed a Italian movie "Amore 14."  I earned money and had fun. A great Saturday for me. However, there is a slow-moving typhoon named Nanmadol approaching Taiwan. Hope everything will be all right.
