Last weekend I went to Taipei for my best friend's baby shower. My friend, a kind and pretty girl, also my college classmate, will have her first baby next year. We are all happy for her. I sent her a pink baby bear doll I bought in Paris 2 years ago and a set of feeding bottles. We had delicious pizza and wonderful chat at her place. I am looking forward that we will see her beautiful daughter soon.
Besides the baby shower, I also visited the
ASICS flagship store Taiwan to receive the "foot examination". The store is the only place that provides advanced foot analysis for people who want to run constantly and can help them choose proper shoes. There are two steps of the whole examination. The first is foot mapping, which requires the examinee to stand still with his foot in a detector machine to evaluate the exact size of the foot. It uses lasers and micro cameras to creat a highly detailed 3D image of the foot which tells the foot length, foot width, heel width, foot height, the height of the arch of the foot, and the inclinations of the heel and the big toe. The result showed that compared to most Asians, I have relatively narrow and small feet, and my heels are somewhat in extroversion. However, in the second step of the examination, which is the gait analysis that involves running for a few minutes on a treadmill while a video is made of the runner's feet, the internal rotation of my gait was normal even thought the extroversion of my heels in the static analysis. As a result, the staff said that I don't have to choose some specific types of shoes for certain types of feet. He recommended me several pairs of shoes. They were all exorbitant, but I could afford it. I bought the one that was most comfortable to me. I bought a long-sleeve t-shirt for running, too. After the shopping, I got a membership card for ASICS for the purchase. This was a interesting experience for me.
Hope my marathon training course will be smooth. Paris Marathon 2013, here I come.
